A call for help - Pet dog needs surgery.

Hello Dearest Followers! It's been a while since I've posted, and while I could sit here and say I'll do more!! I Promise!! Today is not about that. Today is about something else. My beloved pet dog, Gabi, a 7 year old German Shepherd, who has arthritis. She's been with us since she was 10 weeks old, she was our 1st wedding anniversary present to ourselves. After battling through the Parvo Virus when she was young & through elbow & hip displasia, she's always been likely to have arthritis. She's been on preventatives for a while, but in the last few weeks it's gotten so severe that she can't walk on one of her front legs now. She occasionally puts it down for balance, but hobbles along most of the time. If she knocks it, she yelps, if it gets nudged when she lies down, she yelps.

After vet visits, xrays & lots of pain relief, we're off to Massey University to get her elbow operated on. Originally, it was to fuse the elbow together, removing muscle, nerves, tissue etc in order to have bone on bone connection. They would put a plate in to restrict movement. Giving her less pain, but meaning her leg wouldn't work again. However, the surgeons at Massey have advised that they can replace her elbow now, instead of fusing it. So we're off on the 15th of April to have her looked at, get a diagnosis and see what the best option is. If all is good, she'll go into surgery on the 16th (the next day) and be out on the 17th (home for the weekend).

The problem is, that it's expensive. With our 2 year old daughter, a mortgage & the fact i'm only on a contract, means coming up with the $7-10k cost is going to be hard. Which is where you, my followers come in. I've created a fundraising webpage over on GiveALittle in order to raise funds for the operation. Any excess funds will be donated to Wellington SPCA & Massey University, in order to help other animals that need further care.

IF anyone can donate even a few dollars, it would be appreciated. Even sharing this post or the GiveALittle page will help us reach more people who have something to give.

With Love, Chris, Vanessa, Ginnifer & Gabi Dog.
